There are many reasons why someone may be interested in using your image. They could be a graphic design/advertising agency looking for that special image to incorporate into their creative masterpiece. Or, a travel/holiday journal may be publishing a feature about a particular destination, what might be a holiday snap to you might be just what they need to finish their article. Or, an individual who simply likes your image so much, they just want to print it out and display it in their home or office. Whatever the end use may be it is entirely up to you to decide whether or not to allow use of your image.

Once your images are uploaded to your Firesnaps account and you have selected the option to include them in the public gallery, users of firesnaps.com will then be able to see your image, and if interested in using it they will also be able to contact you via the email form which appears alongside your image in the gallery. It is then your decision to negotiate usage terms and/or the fee you wish to charge.

When deciding on a fee you should try to gather as much information as you can. Below are some examples of the kind questions you should be asking:
  1. How will your image be used?
  2. Will it be used as the main image or as a small part of a composition of images?
  3. If it is to go to press, how many will be printed?
  4. Will it be distributed worldwide or just in your home country?
  5. Will it be used in digital form? I.e. on a website?
  6. Will it be used to promote or sell a product and what is that product?
  7. Will they want exclusive rights for any period of time?
And so on...

Here are a few scenarios, which might help you decide a fee for your image:

1. DVD/CD Cover (Budget)

These prices are sourced in the UK and are intended as a guide only. Ultimately it is your decision to a). Allow your image to be used, and b). What your fee and terms of usage will be.
